Begum Akhtar Academy of Ghazal (BAAG)

Kaladharmi, a registered non-profit cultural organization started by a group of experienced and eminent practicing artistes, scholars and connoisseurs of the performing arts. With a view to setting up a regular arts presentation programme, Kaladharmi has attempted to bring to the Delhi stage young dancers and musicians, trained at different teaching centers in the country. Kaladharmi has offered its platform to those who have shown outstanding solo ability as stage performers so as to help them advance their career on the professional stage. KALADHARMI having promoted classical art for the past 50 years through important seminars, festivals, training schemes. Last year we realized that we have been successfully able to organize various programs in the memory of Begum Akhtar through its academy BAAG (Begum Akhtar Academy of Ghazal). Various participants from across the world especially from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Iran were presented. we honored one shayar every year practically all the eminent shayars have been honored under the banner of KALADHARMI. We have been able to present PadmShree Hariharan, Ms Abida Parveen(Pakistan), Teena sani (Pakistan) Borhani Brothers of Iran,padmshri Pankaj Udhas, Padma Shri Anoop Jalota, Ms Tina Sani, Chandan Das, Talat Aziz, Late Pandit Vithal(Hyderabad), along with young singers trained in BAAG. We realized that the classical art of eminent Gharanas needs to be promoted. KALADHARMI has started its ARROHI series, the first year of ARROHI 17 was held in Habitat Center on 22nd, 23rd, 24th November 2017 paying special tribute to Bharat Ratnas of India Pandit Ravishankar and Pandit Bhimsen Joshi. Late Girija Devi and late Kishori Amonkar was specially paid homage by presenting her disciple Shri Raghunandan Pansiker.
